First created in Italy’s north-eastern region of Friuli and adopted by Venice, Piedàterre passionately collects the heritage of the traditional “Friulane” (known in Venetian dialect as “furlane”) slippers, working for decades towards continuous improvement while staying true to their most authentic identity, linked to the local area.

This is how the eclectic, comfortable and uniquely-styled contemporary Friulana was born and now acknowledged worldwide – which explains the increasing number of imitations.

Hand-stitched. Made in Italy. Since 1952.

Friulana must be hand-sewn in Italy; and never held together with glue. The alternative is simply to not be a genuine Friulana. “Hand-made in Italy” is our proud, profound conviction. Since 1952, the upholding of tradition and quality has been making Piedàterre's hand-crafted slippers unique. Exclusive footwear for a few admirers of a unique style, the Friulana (or furlana) is now receiving the recognition we had long been hoping for. And like all stars, she is now loved, copied and often envied. Nothing brings more pleasure and joy than creating the future by learning from the past.

Piedàterre was, and is, the temple, the actual place where the legend of the Friulane has long been recounted. As an abstract place and an example of culture. In the heart of Venice, just a few paces from the Rialto Bridge, Piedàterre preserves the original, traditional Friuli-region versatile slippers in a kaleidoscope-shop of colours and models. Hand-crafted and hand-stitched in Italy. For men, women and children in a place made unique not only for its magical location in central Venice, but also as it is the only store dedicated exclusively to the furlane, as the Venetians call them. Origins and quality count and recount.
